the word prana has always resonated with me. . .

As a yoga teacher and student, I am trained to tune into prana — lifeforce and breath — to help me connect deeply with the poses and movements. With every inhalation we move upward, and with every exhalation we move downward. We generally start and end class with a deep community breath out to offer a connection with ourselves and others. Prana helps us flow in the dance of Vinyasa yoga. But to me, it is so much more — prana is the balanced force that directs me each and every day. Prana is both my energy and a reminder to slow down, take a breath, and enjoy life.

As a former public relations professional at the mercy of my clients, reporter deadlines, and work travel, and living in a world where everything is urgent, I know firsthand what it’s like to be busy, stressed and imbalanced. While I am grateful for my PR career and the multitude of skills and lessons I learned (if Nick Lachey's digits are in your phone, try not to butt dial him at a Notre Dame football game),I began to feel as if I wasn’t in my own body. I was in a rut that lingered on and off for several years.

Dr. D.D. Palmer says, “Life is but the expression of spirit through matter. To make life manifest requires the union of spirit and body.”

With this quote in mind, I realized what I was missing was the balance in both my body and spirit. I might have been feeding myself, but was I fueling my body with the best nutrients to get me through stressful times? No. Was I coming to my mat to practice yoga? Yes, but my mind was oftentimes elsewhere. In short, what I needed the most was to slow down, find balance, and come back to myself.

In 2014, I left PR and started Find Your Prana in Chicago, a full-service health and wellness company offering workplace wellness consulting and classes, workshops, private and group yoga, essential oils, and more. I had a great run in Chicago and I miss my clients and students every day, but in 2016, a new job opportunity popped up for my husband, so to San Francisco we moved...10 weeks pregnant!

On May 24, 2017, we welcomed our sweet "bright shining one" into our lives, our daughter, Nell Colleen Terschluse. Since becoming a mother and moving across the country, Find Your Prana has evolved once again!

Through yoga and fitness classes, in person in San Francisco and via Instagram, I hope to inspire men and women & moms and babies to be the strongest and most empowered version of themselves, find balance by crowding out what does not fuel you, and enjoy all that this life has to offer through the union of spirit and body.

I hope to meet you soon at my next class, or feel free to book me for collaborations, private and group classes, events and more!
